प्रत्येक अनुच्छेद (Paragraph) का सरल हिन्दी अर्थ
बहुत समय पहले हिमालय की ऊँची पर्वत श्रृंखलाओं की तलहटी में बसे एक छोटे से गाँव में मिनम नाम की एक छोटी लड़की रहती थी। उसे अपने दादाजी से पहाड़ों की कहानियाँ सुनना बहुत अच्छा लगता था। उसके दादाजी पहले एक शेरपा थे। दोनों अक्सर साथ में लंबी सैर पर जाया करते थे।
एक दिन सुबह दादाजी ने मिनम से कहा कि अब वह बड़ी और मजबूत हो गई है तथा लंबी दूरी तक चल सकती है। इसलिए आज वे उसे हिमालय की सुंदरता को करीब से दिखाने के लिए पहाड़ों की विशेष यात्रा पर ले जाएंगे।
मिनम बहुत उत्साहित हो गई। उसने अपने बैग में रोटियाँ, अचार, दो पानी की बोतलें और अपने पसंदीदा फल सेब रख लिए। दोनों सुबह-सुबह यात्रा पर निकल पड़े। रास्ते में मिनम ने सुंदर फूल, ऊँचे पेड़, पक्षियों की मधुर आवाज़ और ठंडी, ताज़ी हवा का आनंद लिया।
कुछ देर बाद वे एक साफ पानी वाली नदी के किनारे पहुँचे। वहीं बैठकर उन्होंने रोटियाँ और अचार खाया, मछलियों को तैरते देखा और मिनम ने ठंडे पानी में अपने पैर डुबोकर बहुत आनंद लिया। सेब खाते हुए वह खुशी से हँसने लगी।
भोजन के बाद वे आगे बढ़े। रास्ते में उन्होंने याक देखे। दादाजी ने बताया कि याक पहाड़ों में रहने वाले लोगों के लिए बहुत उपयोगी होते हैं। वे दूध और ऊन देते हैं तथा भारी सामान ढोने में सहायता करते हैं।
आगे चलकर वे बर्फ से ढके स्थान पर पहुँचे। मिनम ने पहली बार इतनी अधिक बर्फ देखी। उसने अपने दादाजी के साथ मिलकर एक छोटा स्नोमैन बनाया और दोनों ने खूब खेला तथा यादगार पल बिताए।
अंत में वे पहाड़ी की चोटी पर पहुँचे। वहाँ से हिमालय की ऊँची चोटियाँ सूर्य की रोशनी में चमक रही थीं। दादाजी ने माउंट एवरेस्ट की ओर इशारा करते हुए बताया कि यह संसार का सबसे ऊँचा पर्वत है और बहुत से बहादुर लोग इस पर चढ़ने का प्रयास करते हैं।
शाम होने लगी तो दोनों घर लौटने लगे। रास्ते में उन्होंने एक वृद्ध व्यक्ति को संतूर बजाते देखा। उसकी मधुर धुन सुनकर मिनम बहुत प्रसन्न हुई। उन्होंने पहाड़ी बकरियों को भी चट्टानों पर फुर्ती से चढ़ते देखा। दादाजी ने बताया कि ये बकरियाँ कठिन स्थानों तक आसानी से पहुँच जाती हैं।
जब वे गाँव पहुँचे तब अँधेरा हो चुका था। मिनम थकी हुई थी, लेकिन बहुत खुश थी। उसने दादाजी को इस सुंदर यात्रा के लिए धन्यवाद दिया। दादाजी ने समझाया कि पहाड़ हमें शक्ति, सुंदरता और प्रकृति का सम्मान करना सिखाते हैं, इसलिए हमें हमेशा उनकी रक्षा करनी चाहिए।
